Breaking habit is one of the most difficult tasks to accomplish because habit is an addiction and a very stubborn factor in our lives. There are good as well as bad habits. Whatever it may be, we are all aware that breaking habit can be a most difficult task; therefore, it behoves us to cultivate good habits. Have you ever given thought to the fact that our whole life is a pattern of habits, whether good or bad? Think about it. Every day, from the moment you awake until you retire at night, you perform routine duties that are called 'chores.' They have become second nature and are accepted as such, but we do not realise that they are in fact habits.
We are never anxious to get rid of good ones since they are acceptable and desirable; and the sad thing is that we can get rid of a good habit without much effort. But what about a bad one?
Break away 'H' from HABIT, you still have -ABIT; Take a closer look, you will see what is still holding on to *it* and causes habit to linger. Why, of course it is *I*(Say *I* - yes, that's *you*)! You yourself are the culprit standing in your own way. No one else! So to get rid of that undesirable habit, you have to literally break *yourself* away from *it* with great effort. Get into the habit of breaking habit! Try once, try twice, try as many times as may be necessary. Breaking habit is a hard task - Just do it!
To break a bad habit, you must be truly serious and have a really strong incentive. Sometimes it is so ingrained in us that even though there is a strong incentive, we find that breaking habit is extremely difficult. As in the case of smoking. So much is said about the evil effects of smoking and the damage that it causes to the lungs, heart, even the brain in some cases.
This will help you to achieve your objectives within a certain framework of time. Talking to one's self may be considered a bad habit, but if done constructively, it can be used as an effective treatment to program your mind for breaking the bad habit of smoking or any other type of addictive behaviour.
Use Affirmations that may help. Add to this list anything else you would want to, and repeat them aloud to yourself several times every morning. This would help to get it firmly etched in your mind why you really insist on breaking habit. Then, sit in a comfortable chair (or lie flat on your back if you prefer), close your eyes and relax. Begin to breathe slowly and deeply. Try to visualize yourself smoking; feel the terrible effects it is having on you; try to see that awful smoke entering your lungs and your heart, feel it churning in your stomach; see how black your organs have become, and clogged up like cobwebs hanging in a haunted house. Hear your helpless organs screaming, "Help! help! please don't do this to us! Stop it now, you are killing us!" Aren't you feeling guilty? Bet you are! Your body is supposed to be the temple of the living God; why desecrate it with smoke? Shame on you!! You would not think of desecrating a cemetery in any way, would you? Why then would you give it greater respect than is given to your body that should be the temple of God? Now, with disgust, see yourself tossing that cigarette away with vengeance. You cannot bear the thought of ever touching it again. Now breathe slowly and deeply; as you breathe out, see all that smoke rushing out of your system and away from you at the speed of lightning; slowly inhale while imagining c-l-e-a-n, fresh air circulating inside you and purifying your system. Continue breaking habit, while breathing slowly and deeply, inhaling that clean air and exhaling that horrible cigarette smoke from your body for ever. You now feel extremely clean throughout your body and you vow never to contaminate your precious self with smoke again. It may seem like a joke but, believe me, your mind can work wonders. This is just an example and may virtually be applied to any bad habit you have cultivated, whether it be smoking or alcohol, or whatever. Just adjust the wording to suit the condition. However, do not expect this to work immediately, breaking habit will take some dedication and persistence on your part before you begin to realise any progress whatever. Success is entirely dependent upon YOU!
If after you have really been consistent in trying this and other methods for some time in an effort to stop smoking, you are still unsuccessful, you have not tried hard enough. It is time you tried this modern day all-natural formula, the and let it truly be your final smoke. Pregnant women, p-l-e-a-s-e do not risk the health and well being of your unborn child. Quit Now! ![]() After you have been successful in breaking habit and keeping it under control, you must turn over a new page to become a new you.
Make a firm decison and act upon it. Two of the worst deterrents to breaking habit are indecision and its partner procrastination. You MUST make that all-important decision to change, and once you have definitely made up your mind, do not procrastinate!! Be firm and retain a real desire to change and, above all, step into action or, believe me, it is not going to work.
Habit is an addiction and you must make a serious decision to get rid of an addiction. If you do not succeed on your first, second, third or even fourth attempt at breaking habit, do not give up; keep on trying until you overcome that bad habit. It will be necessary and most imperative that you stay clear of any association with others who share those bad habits whatever they may be. Find new friends, start to cultivate new good habits. You will be much better off for it. Never give up!!
By now you ought to have overcome the desire to smoke. Now take it a step further. Do you really want to quit smoking? Use hypnosis to stay stopped. LINK: Fullstop Smoking Santa Claus made me smoke - Ian Clark helped me quit.
